JUNE LAKE FISHING Back to Summer Activity Gateway -->

Fishing in June Lake, CaliforniaJune Lake isn't the only lake around the June Lake Loop -- there's also Gull Lake, Silver Lake, and Grant Lake. The June Lake Loop area is almost always one of the first "high" country areas to clear of ice and snow. By the April opener, June is almost certainly clear of snow and ice, and I'd like to promise you a guaranteed catch, but like getting a mortgage, you don't know what you got till it's locked down. An average fishing/fly-fishing day should award you rainbow and cutthroat trout from one-half pound to five pounds or more. You can always pick up the fishing report from the Visitors Centers in town.

There are several fishable streams (Rush Creek, Alger Creek) in the area, as well as some nice campgrounds, restaurants, and supply outlets within walking distance. Not necessarily a total wilderness experience, but it's a rustic area with some of the best fishing around.

Rush Creek: Regularly planted. From Grant Lake Dam to Mono Lake it's an artificial lure, barbless hook, don't keep 'em area.

Reverse Creek : Between Silver Lake and Gull Lake. Regularly planted, and easily accessible from local bars, restaurants, and other June Lake necessities.

Many of the lakes are stocked. You can check out the stocking schedule here.
