In its 16th year, Mammoth’s Festival of Beers and Bluesapalooza promises an energetic lineup of blues talent and a grand tasting of microbrews from around the country. It all takes place Friday, August 5th through Sunday, August 7th outdoors among the pines at Sam’s Wood Site, located on Minaret Road between Main Street and Meridian Boulevard, with California’s Eastern High Sierra as the backdrop.

Headlining this year’s Bluesapalooza is the powerful Blues Traveler, America’s most enduring band, playing a unique fusion of rock’n blues; the iconic Robert Cray Band, a five-time Grammy award winner and soul singer/guitarist; and Walter Trout, a blistering blues rock guitarist. Other well-known performers include the riveting New Orleans funk band Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk; sultry blues standout Ana Popovic; hard-hitting Chicago bluesman Nick Moss and the Flip Tops; top British blues guitarist Matt Schofield; the jazz tinged, blues soaked sounds of the Chris Cain Band; and the Ambassadors of good-time acoustic party blues Tom Ball & Kenny Sultan.

“It does just keep getting better!” says Sean Turner of Mammoth Brewing Company, the event’s sponsor. “We have some incredible headliners, and lined up some of the best known Blues guitar slingers for this year’s event. And, of course, we’re bringing back only the best in microbrews!”

And what goes better with Blues than a good microbrew! The Mammoth Festival of Beers Grand Tasting features 60 of the country’s best microbreweries such as Mammoth Brewing Company (sponsor of the event), Fireman’s Brew, Deschutes, Mendocino, Alaskan, Bear Republic, Anderson Valley, Anacapa, Stone, Lost Coast, Green Flash, Ballast Point, Kern River, Samuel Adams, San Diego, Sierra Nevada, Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing, New Belgium, and many more. Along with the beer and blues, plenty of tasty blues food will be served in the Blues Food Court satisfying the heartiest of appetites.

This year’s schedule highlights the Friday Night Blues Cookout and Concert (4:15 pm-9:15 pm), a great way to kick off a Mammoth blues/brews weekend with headliner Blues Traveler and special guest Ana Popovic. On Saturday, it’s the Mammoth Festival of Beers Grand Tasting (12 pm-5:00 pm) and Bluesapalooza (11:45 am-9:001 pm) featuring Walter Trout, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, Chris Cain Band, Matt Schofield, Nick Moss and The Flip Tops, and Tom Ball & Kenny Sultan. On Sunday, unwind, kick back, and relax at the Sunday Morning Hangover Party (9:00 am ‘til the beer runs out!) featuring the Robert Cray Band with special guests Tom Ball and Kenny Sultan.
