It is a beautiful time of year when the fall colors come to Mammoth and the Eastern Sierra. The weather begins to cool off and the day light is starting to get a bit shorter. The peak viewing time is the first of October, right around the second week, however many of the canyons will change colors a bit earlier as they are protected from the sun and heat. late September in the canyons you can see the trees go from green to yellow to red. If you want to see and experience "seasons" this is the time as Los Angeles and Southern California do not get this seasonal change, and if you're reading this, you may even be sweltering hot, without electricity or AC. Of course there is plenty to do here besides hike, we got our mountain biking, golf and fishing and you can do it all up until the snow starts to fall.
