Yep, fishing in Mammoth Lakesis still the primary activity at the Mammoth Resort till the snow begins to fall. The lakes are full of juicy trout and there are plenty of fish contests for the hard core. Each year the lakes get stocked with both DFG fish and our own Alpers Trout. The best fishing this time of year is the out of the way "hideaways" in the Mammoth Lakes basin, or nearby streams. We have a complete list of the hottest places to fish. There are more lakes than just the basin such as MacLeod, or Rock Creek. If you like to float when fishing then you may wish to hire a tube tender to help you or a guide to take you fly fishing in the back country.
Traditional fishing season ends on November 15, but many places do allow fishing all throughout the season. Check with a tackle shop when when you come to see where the fish are running, as like a track team, they move from place to place.
