If you like Mammoth, then you'll like this news. Mammoth is scheduled opening day for Thursday November 10, 2011 with celebrations and parties all weekend long. Join the local and the hard core season pass holders who alwys make the first day of the season and the last which was 4th of July last season. This year the prediction is for average snowfall which is a mere 400 inches, and cold temperatures which keeps our powder fresh. On the snow years where we say it is a big snow year, snowfall is over 600 inches. Which is how it was in 2010, including the 200 inches that fell in December.

Mammoth has a history of being the first to open of the west coast resorts primarily because of altitude. The weather has been cooperating and the recent 15" that fell is sticking. By Thanksgiving, there will be so much snow, that you can't even stay home and go to Grandma's. You gotta bring Grandma to Mammoth!!
