Mammoth TravelMammoth Driving Directions

The Town of Mammoth is centrally located in the picturesque Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains in California, three hours south of Reno, Nevada, and five hours north of Los Angeles. It is surrounded by nearly two million acres of one of America's largest national forests, including the John Muir and Ansel Adam wildernesses.

TRAVEL
Mammoth is easily accessed by road from Los Angeles, or Reno, Nevada, or by air from Reno Airport (RNO) or Los Angeles (LAX). The scenic journey is along Highway 395 from either direction to Highway 203 and continue into the Town of Mammoth, 3 miles.

For current road conditions and type in the highway you are traveling on, or call 800-427-7623 (1-800-GAS-ROAD).It is a voice activated road information service. In the winter, Mammoth and the Eastern Sierras are a haven for snow. If you drive in the Winter, please carry chains, or drive a 4WD vehicle to avoid car trouble. The town is clamping down on 2WD vehicles without chains. You will definitely need either 4WD or Chains. USE THEM PLEASE!

TIP: Tire chains are cheaper at home than in Mammoth, and more likely to be in stock. Again, you will need them. Often their is road side assistance to put them on.
